چکیده
Dam models were constructed in an indoor flume to test dam breach failure processes study the seismic signals induced. A simple model was also proposed estimate hydrographs for floods. The results showed that when retrogressive erosion due seepage of continues, it will eventually reach crest at upstream side dam, and then trigger overtopping breaching. corresponding events during evaluated. Characteristics analyzed by Hilbert–Huang transform. Based on characteristics signals, we found four types mass movement process, i.e., single, intermittent, successive slides fall. There precursor caused cracking immediately before sliding dam. Furthermore, modeling coincided well with field observations. From results, confirmed discharge lateral masses are among important factors influencing evolution breach. In addition, widening rate decreases decreased discharge. can be a useful tool warning hazard reduction.

Determination of the Height and Overtopping failure of Reservoir Dams by Using Reliability Analysis (Case Study: Namrood Dam)
Generally, the design of dams and other hydraulic structures is carried out based on deterministic approaches. However, there are many uncertainties in the estimation of different effective parameters in hydraulic structures design. The inherent uncertainties in these parameters necessitate reliability analysis to ensure the structure stability. In this study, after investigating various uncert...
متن کاملModeling of Breaching Due to Overtopping Flow and Waves Based on Coupled Flow and Sediment Transport
Breaching of earthen or sandy dams/dunes by overtopping flow and waves is a complicated process with strong, unsteady flow, high sediment transport, and rapid bed changes in which the interactions between flow and morphology should not be ignored. This study presents a depth-averaged two-dimensional (2D) coupled flow and sediment transport model to investigate the flow and breaching processes w...
متن کاملVulnerability of Buildings on Coastal Dikes due to Wave Overtopping
The vulnerability of buildings on coastal dikes due to overtopping wave impacts is difficult to assess. A method is developed in this paper to quantify the vulnerability of masonry buildings on a coastal dike exposed to wave overtopping. Using previous studies, the accidental loads due to the extreme wave impacts are characterized. Using the approach from Eurocode 6, the strength of masonry bui...
متن کاملInvestigating the vulnerability downstream area of Taleghan dam due to dam failure
Due to the immense damage caused by dam failure, especially dams constructed near large cities, it is necessary to consider the breaking phenomena as well as studying and designing different parts of the dam. For this purpose, the hydrograph of the outflow due to dam failure must be identified according to size of the fracture and then flood routing, and flood zone must be determined based on t...

the problem of creation and subsequent propagation of bore has been examined and studied by a number of investigators who they were interested in unsteady flow problems for which sudden changes in either flow or depth or both occur. in this paper, the shock conditions and the method of characteristics for predicting the downstream flooding produced by a dam failure. in the dam-break problem whe...
